Job Description

Hire Resolve's client, a reputable logistics and transport company based in Port Elizabeth, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Manager’s Assistant to join their finance team. This position is ideal for a candidate with strong financial acumen, exceptional Excel skills, and a solid understanding of logistics-related finance functions.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers (trucks, trailers, machinery, and equipment)

  • Process monthly depreciation and amortization entries for company assets and vehicle finance schedules

  • Reconcile vehicle hire purchase (HP) and loan statements; allocate interest and finance charges per vehicle

  • Prepare and update financial and operational reports related to assets, HPs, fuel usage, and cost allocations

  • Reconcile diesel purchases with financial systems and supplier statements

  • Process and monitor sales accruals and expense provisions

  • Prepare and reconcile VAT returns across multiple entities in the group

  • Compile and analyze monthly management accounts and budgets

  • Reconcile intercompany transactions including loans, internal customer/supplier balances

  • Compare daily operational reports with monthly financials to identify variances and issues

  • Assist with audit preparations by providing supporting schedules and documentation

  • Analyze physical stock counts and reconcile with accounting software (investigate discrepancies)

  • Support compliance processes including BEE audits and Stats SA reporting

  • Build automated and dynamic Excel-based templates for recurring financial processes

  • Collaborate with operational departments to support budgeting, reporting, and reconciliations

  • Provide support to administrative departments during peak times or staff shortages

  • Carry out ad hoc duties and reports as requested by the Financial Manager, COO, or CEO


Requirements
  • BCom or BTech in Accounting

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a financial/accounting role

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including formulas, PivotTables, VLOOKUPs)

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Pastel Partner, and Microsoft Outlook

  • Ability to handle multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently under pressure
