Responsibilities
Investment Strategy
Develop and articulate long-term investment strategies for multi-asset portfolios aligned with client objectives and market conditions.
Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities, asset classes, and strategic partnerships.
Implement innovative portfolio solutions and adapt to regulatory, technological, and market changes.
Provide thought leadership and guidance to financial advisors and key stakeholders.
Influence the firm’s investment philosophy, house view, and strategic asset allocation frameworks.
Portfolio Construction and Management
Design, implement, and manage multi-asset portfolios including unit trusts, hedge funds, direct equities, ETFs, and alternatives.
Oversee asset allocation, manager selection, and portfolio rebalancing in line with risk/return objectives and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and report portfolio performance, risk metrics, and compliance with mandates.
Manager Research and Due Diligence
Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on third-party asset managers and investment products.
Present investment recommendations to the investment committee and stakeholders.
Maintain and update approved and buy lists for underlying managers and funds.
Client Engagement and Advisory Support
Provide strategic portfolio insights and market commentary to financial advisors.
Deliver high-touch service to high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients.
Prepare and present detailed investment reports and proposals.
Risk Management and Compliance
Ensure compliance with FSCA regulations, FAIS requirements, and internal risk controls.
Oversee risk management processes including liquidity, counterparty, and operational risks.
Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting DFMs, hedge funds, and collective investment schemes.
Leadership and Mentoring
Mentor junior portfolio managers and analysts.
Contribute to the development of investment processes and methodologies.
Participate in investment and governance committees.

Morningstar, Excel, IRESS, OPUS, FactSet
Requirements
Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Investment Management, or related field (CFA preferred).
Minimum 7 years’ experience in portfolio management, multi-manager research, or investment consulting.
Proven track record managing discretionary mandates including unit trusts, hedge funds, ETFs, and alternatives.
Strong understanding of South African and global investment markets and regulatory frameworks.
Proficiency in English and Afrikaans.
